How to fix: unread email in gmail inbox

 This is how I fix my untraceable unread email in my gmail.

on your gmail search box search the following 

in:inbox category:{primary} label:unread

and

in:inbox -category:{social promotions updates forums} label:unread

once you see the unread email mark this as read.
