6 Easy Way to Speed Up Windows 10 Without Installing 3rd Party Apps

The latest Windows, Windows 10, has improved many features of operating system and this version is much faster in terms of processing but there is a way to increase the even further. To make the hardware perform functions at a faster rate, the software has to be updated as well. The heavy software leads to longer startup times. There are many other speedup tools but they require the installation of a third party application which comes with additional risks. We have compiled a list of six ways you can boost up your Windows 10 speed without installing any software.

1. Uninstall Unwanted Programs

Windows 10 comes with a huge list of preinstalled software which most users do not even need. The programs or applications are designed for the accessibility and convenience of users but all they do is send pop-ups and notifications, interrupting users in the middle of tasks. You can remove these apps by searching for them in the Start menu, right clicking on them and selecting Uninstall. However, do note there are many other applications that will not show up in the Start menu and for that you will have to open the Apps & Features page.

2. Remove Startup Processes

There are many applications that run processes each time you boot your computer. Most of these are not even required to be constantly running in the background. You can remove the processes that you do not want to be running each time the computer turns on through the new Task Manager tool.

3. Perform Disk Cleanup

You can perform a disk cleanup using the built-in tool. The tool will scan the entire disk and produce a list of all unwanted junk files that take up precious disk space and slow down the PC. These include Recycle Bin files, temporary files and internet cache memory. You can remove these files with the click of button. For better results you can even try disk fragmentation if you have not done it before.

4. Scan for Malware Threats

Malware is one of the most common causes of slow computer speed. The default Windows Defender application is reliable antivirus tool. It is better than any third party application. The program scans the system and identifies any possible threats or viruses disrupting your computer’s performance.

5. Optimize Power Settings

You can change the power settings on your computer to achieve optimum performance speed. However, this option consumes more power so it is not recommended to those who are trying to cut down their electricity bill. Just select the High Performance option from the Power Options tab in System and Security control panel.

6. Change the Appearance

You can alter the appearance of the operating system by turning off animations and other unnecessary visual displays. All you have to do is type ‘Adjust Appearance’ in the search bar and choose which features you want to turn off. If you select ‘Overall Best Performance’ then do note all the current visual effects will no longer appear.
